1. NSA reportedly collecting phone records of millions, though officials had denied holding 'data' on Americans

FoxNews.com

Reports that the Obama administration has been collecting the phone records of millions of Verizon customers in the U.S. could contradict statements made by top officials who previously claimed the government was not holding data on Americans.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper was asked at a March hearing whether the National Security Agency collects any data on millions of Americans.

"No sir ... not wittingly," Clapper responded, acknowledging there are cases "where inadvertently, perhaps" the data could be collected.

NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander also told Fox News last year that the agency does not "hold data on U.S. citizens."

But the Guardian newspaper reported late Wednesday that the administration has been collecting the phone records of millions of U.S. customers of Verizon under a top secret court order.

The order, a copy of which apparently was obtained by The Guardian, reportedly was granted by the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on April 25 and is good until July 19.

2. More details emerge on IRS staffer claim of Washington control of targeting

FoxNews.com

Two IRS employees have provided more details to congressional investigators about how targeting of Tea Party groups in 2010 came from agency officials in Washington, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Transcripts of interviews with the two employees seem to contradict previous claims by top IRS officials blaming lower-level workers in Cincinnati, The Wall Street Journal reported.

While the transcripts don't suggest Obama administration officials knew of or were involved in the flagging of the groups, questions regarding who ordered the targeting still linger.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Elizabeth Horface, whose Cincinnati office looked to IRS officials in the Washington tax-exempt unit for help when she began getting Tea Party cases in 2010, said an IRS lawyer "closely oversaw" her work and suggested questions to ask applicants.

Horface said according to the transcript she had little autonomy from or "authority to act on [applications] without [IRS lawyer] Carter Hull's influence or input."

3. ObamaCare Bait and Switch

The truth about those rate increases in Oregon and California.

Liberals have spent years claiming that "rate shock" under the Affordable Care Act—the 20% to 30% average spike in insurance premiums that every independent analyst projects—is merely the political imagination of Republicans and the insurance industry. So they immediately claimed victory when California reported last month that the plans that will be available on the state's new insurance exchange next year would be cheaper than they are today.

Except now it emerges that California goosed the data to make it appear as if ObamaCare won't send costs aloft as the law's regulations and mandates kick in. It will, by a lot. And now liberals have suddenly switched to arguing that, sure, insurance will be more expensive but the new costs are justified. Needless to say that was not how Democrats sold health-care reform.

California reported that the rates would range from 2% above to 29% below the current market. "This is a home run for consumers in every region of California," said Peter Lee, the director of the state exchange. "These rates are way below the worst-case gloom-and-doom scenarios we have heard."

4. Fear of a U.S. gun control crackdown fuels state, local efforts to bolster gun rights

By RICK PLUMLEE and BRENT WISTROM

Concerns about the federal government cracking down on control of guns has spurred state and local elected officials to ramp up their efforts to protect gun rights.

Wednesday, the Sedgwick County Commission voted to adopt a resolution calling for the support of the Second Amendment and to reject any attempts by the feds to limit rights to keep and bear arms.

In Topeka, Gov. Sam Brownback this week signed into law two bills that expand gun rights.

Call @DarrellIssa at 202-224-3121 & Demand The Impeachment of The #POTUS Begin Immediately! @Breaking_Obama asks you to spread the word!
Once elected and after Congress has certified the Electoral votes, a President of The United States may only be removed from office by impeachment by the House followed by conviction by the Senate, or by the more prudent means of resignation ( a la Richard Nixon).Johnson and Clinton were impeached, but no President has ever been convicted and removed from office.

This will get through the House easily and it is first and with the current climate the Senate may also convict to save their own asses with the 2014 Mid-Term Election coming up!
